Here are three files which show how the Ampersand (&) command works between Applesoft and machine language. There is an Applesoft program, Merlin source file, and the object code to the routines in this archive. If you've ever wanted to use this method for parameter passing, then you will most definitely want this file! Archived with ShrinkIt v.3.4.

CoolEd version 0.1a
Designed, programmed and (c)1996 by Russell
Nielson and Bret "Slixter" Victor. CoolEd is a ProDOS 8-bit music
editor and player for all Electric Duet Style music files. It allows
you to load, edit, play, save, and trak the music. It also contains
a staff editor to make writing music easier. Because of timing issues
it is being released in its Alpha form. If we get enough feedback
and there is sufficient interest, we will finish the program. Packed
with ShrinkIt v3.4.
During a Bulletin Board discussion, an Applesoft program was posted which created a "drunkards walk" graph in lo-res screen. A request was made to make this graph "crawl", or move, to create a continuous scrolling display. This archive contains the Applesoft program which does this scroll. Also to demonstrate the shear speed of assembly language, I wrote the same program using the Merlin assembler. The source code and binary "BRUNable" code is included in this archive. Escape is a game where you are in jail and you must escape. You start off in a cell and you must find your way out before the gaurds find out that you are missing. Then you must negotiate a mine field, pick off 9 guards at the tower, gain access to the computer, contact Joe, and then find him down town. I never finished this game so it's freeware! Run the program named STARTUP to begin the game.

Halloween animation is a set of BASIC programs and Hi-res pictures with a bitmapped drawing routine in machine language. This is a good thing to have around Halloween for showing off. I like to stick my system's monitor in the window on Halloween for display, people seem to love it! The five nimation sequences here are:
1) a pumpkin head
2) dracula coming out of his coffin
3) a melting candle
4) a graveyard
5) a skeleton trick-or-treating.

I just finshed writing a pretty good hi-res picture compressor. Use the utility program to load hi-res screens and compress them and then save them to disk. I have included all the source code and a text file that explains my methods and what I did to write the compression routines. Written under ProDOS and archived with Shrinkit 3.4. All the programs and source code and graphics are freeware... so Enjoy! Leave me with some email of your comments and/or criticisms. Thanks!
This is just collection #1 of my BASIC programs. When I got my Apple IIc back in 1983, I began writting BASIC programs. This is just some of that earlier work. It's pretty much useless, but to those who are learning to program in BASIC then it may be helpful. Unpack to a 5.25 disk or to a folder on a 3.5 disk. All programs are Freeware. Archived with Shrinkit 3.4.
This is the second collection of Russ' useless BASIC programs. They are all freeware so destroy them and have fun. Unpack to a 5.25 disk or a folder on a 3.5 disk. Archived with Shrinkit 3.4.
